What do I do if Libby is saying "Unable to verify card"?

Answer

The Libby app is giving an error message of “Unable to verify card” to some users because of a security update. To verify your card you will need your Library card number and PIN.

If you don’t know this information you can update an existing card using our portal. It will provide your card number and/or let you reset your PIN.

If verifying your card doesn’t work, try to completely close the app.

  • Android: Open your recently used apps list, find the Libby app, and swipe to close it.

  • iOS: Close the Libby app by swiping up from the app switcher on your iPhone or iPad

Then try to verify your card number and PIN again.

If this doesn’t work, remove your Library card and add it again (removing your card does not return your checkouts or cancel your holds).

If removing and adding your card back doesn’t work, try closing the app again. Reopen the Libby app and try verifying your card number and PIN another time.
